Hello

We are Erik Moeken and Monique Meijnen and we have been the proud owners of Camp Vallée du Tarn since 2019.

Very briefly then...

Erik:   I was born on February 19, 1968, in Almelo. A few years after my daughter was born, I moved to Enschede, where I lived happily until moving to Zutphen in 2010. Most of my working life in the Netherlands was in doors, in industrial access control/loading and unloading systems. Before moving to France, I managed about 25 technicians.

Monique : I was born in Arnhem on April 28, 1970. Around 1977, I moved to Zutphen and lived there until I moved to France. My daughter and son were born there while I was working as an administrative assistant at an accounting firm. I'm a sports massage therapist and finished my working life in the Netherlands as a management assistant at a cluster 4 school.

We met in late 2009 and the sparks flew. We sealed our love in October 2010.

We both had long dreamed of running a campsite abroad, even before we met. Italy was the shared idea... but when a more advanced project there proved impossible, we found this beautiful, small campsite with a house on the banks of the Tarn River in France.

In May 2018, the verbal agreement was reached, and by the end of January 2019, the move was a reality. A new "homeland," a new language, new customs... but no time to pay much attention to it, because there was work to be done! Tidying up the grounds, pruning, building decks for the rental tents, buying supplies, tidying the house, and so on.

The day before the official opening, we welcomed our first guests, a Belgian couple on bicycles. It was cold, so we built a fire, got blankets, and popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate the opening together.

Camp Vallée du Tarn was born.
